RawBC: Raw Bulk Buying Group Meeting Review - July 19th
About 20 people attended the RawBC Raw Bulk Buying Group Meeting Review held on July 19th at the Commercial area residence of Genny B.
The room was warmed by the sun and there was lots of radiance and enthusiasm with the group gathered to find different ways to source and
purchase their raw food staples.
Using a white board, we brainstormed the food items that we all were wanting to have available to us. lt was neat to see the list grow and grow.
Then we created another list of places that we each knew as sources / distributors / outlets for those food items. lt was interesting to see how
many places / websites where we could locate these foods.
lt was then decided that we would each take different sources and find their catalogues / items carried / prices / bulk ordering discounts / etc. so that we could know our sources and our pricings.
At the meeting, all the information was to be submitted by August 1st, and l am asking that the information please be submitted by Sunday, August 10th.
Then the task of determining prices and best places for sourcing can begin.
After the meeting, we all enjoyed a delicious array of different raw delights, from salad, to spaghetti, to nut spreads, to a strawberry pie. Thank you to all those that contributed the rawsome dishes at the early dinner.
Since the meeting on July 19, RawBC has been in touch with another bulk buying possibility. And it was just a couple of days ago, on July 29th that
Diane and l learnt further about this alternative.
Diane and l met with Charles Holmes of Living Harvest, a hemp seed distribution company. Charles is interested in being an outlet for bulk dry raw foods.
lt is his intention to warehouse raw food products, that we would want to have available, and the warehouse would be open on certain hours, probably on the Saturday. He is feeling that if he is ordering in bulk, then he can get a greater discount, and we would still get below retail pricing.
He definitely has the space. His warehouse, although not huge, has ample room to inventory sacks of seeds, boxes of seaweed, cartons of agave syrup, and whatever else we choose to request. There would be a special pricing for RawBC members.
lt is definitely a positive option for us to consider, as when we had our July 19th meeting, we realized that initially we would be looking at dry raw foods, and later on down the road, then we would look at being able to get fresh produce, fruits and vegetables. We all know that there are more logistical and time sensitive matters to deal with around such perishables.
This message is also going to be posted on the RawBC Forum under the title topic: "Bulk Buying Group". So go there and share your feedback, as well as submitting in this topic your research that you agreed to do from the various raw food sources. Please submit your findings by the end of Sunday, August 10th.

I wasn't able to attend the bulk buying group, but I am definetly interested in saving money on raw foods. Can you give me more specific details of the meeting. Where to source these foods and prices. I only know about realrawfood to get bulk raw foods. Does anyone know of any others and how do their prices compare? I'm unclear exactly how this will work. Who purchases the bulk items in the first place, where are they picked up,etc. I'm interested in almonds, dates, hemp seeds, cacao, maca, agave, pumpkin seeds, goji berries, coconut oil, shredded coconut.
Any additional info will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

I'm also interested in a bulk order. When and where will the next meeting be?
